TRE Adds Two Hotels to Portfolio

BOSTON—Today, the T.R. ENGEL Group (‘TRE’) announced the addition of the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, in Schaumburg, Ill., and the former Marriott Charlotte Executive Park in Charlotte, N.C., to its asset management portfolio, bringing its total full-service hotels under third-party asset management to nine properties and over 4,800 rooms.

At the 500-room Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, TRE will focus on establishing the Convention Center as a destination for groups and exhibitors, expanding the asset’s regional and national draw. At the 297-room newly rebranded Crowne Plaza Charlotte Executive Park, TRE will work closely with the owner and operator to reposition the former Marriott branded property to a new-look Crowne Plaza, consistent with InterContinental’s vision for the upscale brand. Paul Puzzanghero, senior vice president of TRE and a 25-year Marriott veteran will be responsible for day-to-day asset management of the hotels.

“Both of these hotels have unfulfilled potential and we intend to realize it on behalf of our client owners,” said Tom Engel, president and founder of TRE. “These properties combine committed ownership, motivated management, and TRE’s operational expertise and creative asset management style, which together can take these assets to the next level.”
