TravelClick Appoints David Obstler CFO

NEW YORK—TravelClick, a global provider of cloud-based solutions that enable hotels to grow revenue, announced on Oct. 15 the appointment of David Obstler as its chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Obstler brings to TravelClick nearly 30 years of experience in finance, 15 of which were spent in the role of chief financial officer. During this time, he helped several leading public and private equity-backed companies in New York City achieve operational and financial growth, as well as navigate financial and business transformations. He also has participated in multiple initial public offerings (IPO) and M&A transactions.

Most recently, Obstler was chief financial officer at OpenLink Financial, a global leader in Transaction Lifecycle Management (TLM) software for the commodity, energy, and financial services industries with revenues of more than $300 million. Prior to that, Obstler was chief financial officer of MSCI Inc., a leading provider of investment decision support tools. Obstler assumed the role after MSCI acquired Risk Metrics in June 2010, where he served as chief financial officer. Obstler coordinated the financial integration of MSCI Inc. and Risk Metrics, consolidated and strengthened the combined 165-person global finance team, and helped the company achieve targeted cost synergies. During his tenure at Risk Metrics group, Obstler was helped shape the company’s business and financial growth strategy. He was also responsible for broadening the capabilities of the finance department to support the company’s expansion, its integration of several acquisitions and to prepare for its IPO and ultimate sale to MSCI Inc.

Prior to MSCI Inc., Obstler acted as chief financial officer at Pinnacor Inc., leading the company through its private financing, IPO, two acquisitions, and eventual sale. In addition, he previously held investment banking roles at JP Morgan & Co., Lehman Brothers, and Goldman, Sachs & Co.
