Sage Hospitality Adds Two Hotels with RLJ Lodging Trust

DENVER—Sage Hospitality has announced the management contracts of two hotels along the West Coast with RLJ Lodging Trust. Furthering an aggressive growth strategy, this is Sage’s 14th new contract in 2014. Already under Sage’s management services is the Courtyard Portland City Center in Oregon, which the hotel investment and management company developed and branded in 2009. New to the Sage portfolio is the Embassy Suites Irvine – Orange County Airport in California.

“These hotels represent the third and fourth properties that Sage manages for RLJ, and it was a very successful collaboration to acquire this off market opportunity,” said Michael Everett, chief investment officer at Sage. “We are excited to continue managing the Courtyard Portland City Center and we look forward to continuing our growth in California.”

The Embassy Suites Irvine further extends Sage’s presence in Southern California after the February opening of the new SpringHill Suites Downtown Oceanside and the longstanding management contract of the Hilton Del Mar/San Diego. The Embassy Suites is only one mile from John Wayne/Orange County Airport and is nearby to attractions such as Disneyland Resort, University of California-Irvine, and the Anaheim Convention Center.

The Courtyard Portland City Center is housed inside a former office building that was redeveloped and Marriott branded by Sage. The hotel is the first LEED Certified Gold Courtyard in the United States and features Urban550, with 5,300 square feet of meeting space. Adjacent to the hotel is The Original Dinerant, an original concept by Sage Restaurant Group and restaurateur Peter Karpinski.
