Obama Adds Arne Sorenson to Export Council

The White House is adding seven new members to its export council, which operates as an advisory committee on international trade. The appointments include CEOs from major corporations, including Arne Sorenson, leader of Marriott.

According to this report from the Washington Post, Sorenson will join Ian Read, the CEO of Pfizer; Kenneth Frazier, the president of Merck; Marillyn Hewson of Lockheed Martin; and Virginia Rometty, CEO of IBM.

In 2010, President Obama set a goal of doubling U.S. exports by 2015, but is unlikely to hit that goal.
