Marriott International Opens Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel

Renaissance Hotels has opened its second hotel in Barcelona this year, the 357-room Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel, under a franchise agreement with Hoteles Catalonia. Located in Plaza Europa, the hotel was designed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel and Ribas & Ribas.

The hotel’s original design comprises two 110 meter towers joined at the top by a panoramic restaurant and terrace vantage point. Around the monochrome façade climbs a vertical garden of 300 palm trees and natural vegetation originating from five continents.

“We are delighted to add this unique property to our rapidly growing European portfolio of Renaissance Hotels”, said Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, in an announcement. “The opening of our second Renaissance Hotel in Barcelona this year reinforces the popularity of the Renaissance brand, and we are excited to welcome guests to our new hotel here, a destination world renowned for its warm hospitality and cutting-edge design.”

The 357 guestrooms contain leaf-shaped lighting and modern amenities. One of the hotel’s twenty-seven floors is dedicated to meeting and event space, offering 1200 square feet across 11 flexible rooms.

The hotel’s three restaurants and bars include the panoramic Palmer restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine; El Cel, a rooftop bar; and the Oasis lobby bar, a casual option for drinks and snacks throughout the day. For leisure and relaxation, the hotel features a rooftop pool, indoor pool, fitness area, and solarium.
