Kimpton to Break Ground on Milwaukee Hotel

SAN FRANCISCO—Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will break ground on its Milwaukee hotel by the end of the year.

The new Kimpton Milwaukee is the first upscale boutique hotel in the city’s Third Ward district. Originally an industrial and warehouse district in the late 1800s, the area is now home to Milwaukee’s emerging art and fashion scene, boasting numerous art galleries and studios, as well as the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and the Art Institute. The neighborhood is also known for the Milwaukee Riverwalk, which connects the district with Downtown Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Public Market, whose vendors include privately-owned food growers, artisans, and purveyors, and Summerfest, the world’s largest music festival.

“We’re excited to break ground in Milwaukee and start building what’s sure to be a landmark property for this artistic and creative neighborhood,” said Kimpton CEO Mike Depatie. “With its huge rooftop deck and lounge area and the unique, locally inspired design plans, we’re confident the hotel will bring something very special to the city.”
