JW Marriott Desert Ridge Makes Gingerbread Village

The JW Marriott Desert Ridge has a seasonal tradition of crafting large-scale gingerbread creations to wow its guests and spread some holiday joy. In the past, the luxury hotel has created “Whoville” and Willy Wonka themed displays out of the spicy cookie mixture.

This year, the property enlisted the help of 17 pastry chefs to create a life-sized wonderland, featuring 13 detailed buildings from a post office to a fire house.

The project required 4,000 pounds of gingerbread cookie dough, 3,240 gingerbread bricks to frame and roof the buildings, 25,000 eggs, 300 pounds of sugar to make the windows, and 2,000 pounds of icing. The project took the pastry chefs over 800 hours to complete.

The display will be up in the lobby of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa through the end of December and is free to the public.
