IHG Opens InterContinental London Westminster

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) opened its first UK hotel in over 36 years on November 27 in a historic former government building with the InterContinental London Westminster. The hotel features six guest floors with 256 rooms including a Penthouse, 14 one bedroom suites, and 30 studio suites.

The hotel features a Club InterContinental Executive Lounge, eight meeting and event rooms, a business center, and a 24 hour gym for exclusive guest use.

The property’s food and beverage offerings include the Blue Boar Smokehouse and Bar, with menu items created using authentic smoke house techniques; Emmeline’s which offers cocktails and champagne; and The Lobby Lounge, serving traditional teas, coffees, and homemade cakes.

In an announcement, Andrew Coney, General Manager, InterContinental London Westminster said, “I’m very proud that in this year of London celebration we are bringing to the city the first new InterContinental in 36 years. Westminster is a tremendous location calling out for what our brand can offer. Our hotel will be at the heart of an area renowned for its iconic sights and heritage but also going through an exciting period of regeneration. We will contribute to this by creating 180 jobs for local people and representing a major investment in this part of town.”

InterContinental London Westminster is owned by Supreme Hotels Group and will be operated by IHG under a management agreement. It will be the second UK hotel within the brand joining the InterContinental London Park Lane.
