Embassy Suites Saratoga Springs Breaks Ground

McLEAN, Va.—Embassy Suites Hotels and DCG Development Co., an owner/developer of commercial property in Saratoga County, announced that construction has begun on the 149-suite Embassy Suites Saratoga Springs. The hotel, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2014, will be the third Embassy Suites in the state of New York and the first Embassy Suites in the state to feature the brand’s latest design concept, Design Option III. The full service, all-suites hotel will also feature 5,000 square feet of meeting space and an on-site restaurant.

The ceremonial groundbreaking was attended by approximately 30-35 guests including City of Saratoga officials, the project development team, and existing Congress Plaza businesses. Present at the groundbreaking ceremony were Todd Shimkus, president of Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce; Scott Johnson, mayor of Saratoga Springs; Karen Whitman, senior director of franchise development for Hilton Worldwide; Don Greene, president of DCG Development Co.; David Congdon, vice president of DCG Development Co.; Megan Bast, Bast Hatfield; Kit Bast, Bast Hatfield; Dennis Brobston, president of the Saratoga Economic Development Corporation; and Todd Garofano, president of the Saratoga Convention and Tourism Bureau.

While the Saratoga Springs property is the first Embassy Suites hotel for DCG Development Co., the group is familiar with the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of brands, recently opening a Hilton Garden Inn in Clifton Park, N.Y. Outside of Hilton Worldwide, the development company is the owner and developer of Saratoga County commercial property including Clifton Park Center, Executive Woods, Malta Commons and Tech Valley Flex Park.

“We are pleased to partner with DCG Development Co. to bring an Embassy Suites to the Saratoga Springs area,” said John Rogers, global head, Embassy Suites Hotels. “The innovative DO III prototype that this new hotel will feature has proven to be a strong driver of hotel performance and high guest satisfaction.”

Embassy Suites Saratoga Springs will be constructed and designed in the brand’s Design Option III style. The design features a variety of side-by-side suites, shotgun suites, and one room suites in addition to a contemporary atrium area, decreasing the amount of land needed and creating efficiencies for both construction and operational costs.

“We are thrilled to break ground on our very first Embassy Suites hotel and expand our portfolio of Hilton Worldwide hotels,” said Don Greene sole proprietor, DCG Development Co. “With the continued growth of Saratoga Springs as an internationally-recognized leisure and business destination, bringing the brand’s upscale, family-friendly offering to the community will be a solid option for travelers visiting the area.”

The Embassy Suites Saratoga Springs will feature the signature amenities standard at all Embassy Suites Hotels, including free cooked-to-order breakfast each morning, a nightly complimentary Evening Reception, and two-room suites with a separate living area, private bedroom, two flat-screen high-definition televisions and wet bar fitted with a microwave, mini-fridge and a selection of gourmet coffee and teas from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The property will offer complimentary, 24-hour fitness and business centers, along with an indoor pool.
