Dual-Build Hampton Inn/Home2 Planned for Louisville

MCLEAN, Va.—This week, Hilton Worldwide announced the signing of the new dual-branded Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites by Hilton Louisville East/Hurstbourne, adding to the 15 Hilton Worldwide properties currently located in the Louisville, Ky., market. The 83-room Hampton Inn will be the 10th Hampton hotel property and the 74-room Home2 Suites by Hilton will be the first Home2 Suites brand property to the area, bringing a total of 157 new rooms. The property is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2017. In addition, Hilton Garden Inn and Embassy Suites hotels are currently in development in downtown Louisville.

“Louisville is proving to be a robust business environment, and the new dual-brand hotel further establishes Hilton Worldwide’s presence in this important market,” said Bill Fortier, senior vice president, development, Americas, Hilton Worldwide. “The new Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites dual-build will offer a unique set of accommodation options for business and leisure travelers alike, while also providing operational efficiencies and cross-selling opportunities for the owner.”

Hilton Worldwide’s growth in Louisville reflects the competitive benefits and tax incentive programs for all types of businesses that consistently make Kentucky one of the lowest overall cost places of doing business in the eastern United States. In 2014, the city of Louisville was listed on America’s Breakout Cities for 2014 by CNNMoney, one of the “Best Entrepreneurial Cities” by Entrepreneur.com, and was listed among Forbes’ Best Places for Business. In addition, Louisville is home to five Fortune 500 headquarters and 17th Fortune 25 largest U.S. corporations, including: Ford Motor’s 6,000-employee Fern Valley Road plant, GE Appliance and Lighting, Lexmark International, Louisville Slugger, UPS Worldport, Humana Inc., Yum Brands Inc., Papa John’s International, Churchill Downs Inc., and more.

Located at the intersection of Hurstbourne Parkway and Forest Bridge Road near University of Louisville, the four-story development is owned and managed by Kana Hotel Group LLC.

Hampton Inn and Home2 Suites Louisville East/Hurstbourne joins Hilton Worldwide’s current portfolio of nearly 20 dual-branded hotels. The two hotels will still maintain their own brand identity, but will share amenities and services of both brands, such as an oversized indoor pool, fitness center, public restrooms, free WiFi, laundry room, and employee break room.

Currently in development, the seven-story, 304-suite Embassy Suites Downtown Louisville is located in a historic building, formerly Stewart’s Department Store, on Fourth Street and within walking distance of the Kentucky International Convention Center. A new build 162-room Hilton Garden Inn is also being constructed downtown on West Chestnut. Both are anticipated to open in the first quarter of next year.
