The Seagate Hotel & Spa Gets Into the Shark Week Spirit
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Discovery Channel's most anticipated week of programming— Shark Week. If you've been following along with all of the underwater action this week, then you'll likely be excited about the new addition to The Seagate Hotel & Spa.
To celebrate Shark Week, the 154-room Delray Beach hotel unveiled a new 2,500 gallon shark tank in the hotel's seafood restaurant The Atlantic Grill. The tank measures 20 feet long and four feet tall and houses a variety of sharks including Japanese Leopard, Smooth-Hound, Nurse, Guitar and Horn Sharks. Also sharing the tank are Porkfish, Moonfish, Squirrelfish, a Garibaldi Damselfish, a spiny Florida lobster, a Yellow Stingray, and Atlantic Stingray.
"We are thrilled to be announcing our brand new shark tank to align with the excitement of Shark Week," said William J. Sander, executive VP of The Seagate Hospitality Group and general manager of The Seagate Hotel & Spa, in an announcement. "As we aim to add to the ambiance of The Atlantic Grille, coupled with all the positive feedback we received about our aquariums, it seemed like a natural fit."
The hotel already has four other aquariums on its property including a 1,750-gallon aquarium with reef fish in the lobby; a 750-gallon tank with wild Lionfish and Porcupine Puffer Fish; a 550-gallon grand hall aquarium with Morey Eels; and a 450-gallon display of Moon Jellyfish.
The new shark tank will be by Magnificent Aquariums who will be on-site three days per week. The Seagate Hotel & Spa has also committed to an exchange program to relocate sharks to a larger aquarium as they outgrow the tank.
We think the the new addition to the hotel restaurant is a pretty cool feature.
