Nobu Hotel Officially Opens in Vegas

2/4/2013 | The Scene
To say that the opening of the world's first Nobu Hotel has been highly anticipated would be an understatement. Since it was announced, buzz has been building for the unveiling of the new Las Vegas resort, located at Caesars Palace. And yesterday, between Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Nobu Hospitality primary shareholders, actor Robert De Niro and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper, cut the ribbon and officially opened the 181-room boutique hotel to the public.

Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace is the first celebrity chef-branded hotel venture in Las Vegas. David Rockwell and his firm the Rockwell Group led the overall interior design for the property. In a video interview, Rockwell says that his company had "many, many years with Nobu and his partners to develop an idea of a hotel that uses very simple, very authentic ingredients just like the food." The hotel features 18 luxury suites that range from one-bedroom, 1,000 square feet, to five-bedroom, 3,500 square feet configurations.

Obviously, the hotel would not be complete without its food and beverage component. The Nobu Restaurant and Lounge, taking up 12,775 square feet, is the world’s largest Nobu Restaurant and the first to offer teppanyaki in the United States. With 327 seats, the restaurant features a sushi bar, exclusive private dining area, and a selection of dishes including Nobu’s signature items such as black cod with miso, rock shrimp tempura, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno and squid “pasta."

Last night's festivities included an exclusive in-room dining showcase, comprehensive design tours, and an official celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony. The hotel also welcomed its first official guest to the property.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, actor Robert De Niro said: "I'm very excited. It has become a reality and at one point it was a dream. We are very luck to be starting at Caesars."
