Renaissance Vinoy Resort to Restore Original Murals
 To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the grand re-opening of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, a historic property on Florida's west coast, the hotel is breathing new life into original murals on the property. The murals are original to the 86-year-old resort and, once redone, will be a focal point in Marchand’s Bar & Grill.
The murals were previously covered up by protective paneling and have not been seen by guests in quite some time. Florida muralist Robert Schott along with Tom Stovall, the artist who decorated the dining room twenty years ago, were commissioned to bring the murals back to their prime.
The original paintings feature vertical designs of leafy vines and vases. The restoration process is expected to take a few weeks and will be complete in early November. However, guests can get a sneak peek of the restoration process if they choose to dine at Marchand's.
The Renaissance Vinoy, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, reopened in 1992, and is pulling out all the stops to commemorate the anniversary of that special date. Along with the mural restoration, the hotel is offering special menu additions from 1992, cocktails inspired by the Pompeii Room, a Facebook photo contest and a special Tuesday Artist Series with watercolor artist Carrie Jadus.
