Omni Hotels Launches Teen Concierge Program

7/2/2012 | The Scene
When listing amenities, hotels often incorporate activities specifically geared towards adults and young children. But few properties really develop programs to cater to the crowd of teen travelers. However, Omni Hotels & Resorts is putting a new emphasis on the in-between age group with its new Teen Connection program.

This summer, Omni hotels across the country will be making a teen concierge available to guests. This service will connect teenagers living in the hotel's city to visiting teens from out of town using text messages or email, as well as social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. These in-the-know guides will give teenagers advice on area restaurants, activities, and local attractions.

In an announcement about the new program, Caryn Kboudi, vice president of corporate communications, said: "Parents often like to unplug and unwind when on vacation, but teens like to stay active and constantly connected via social means – we designed the program for them. Omni is committed to making teens feel important instead of stuck between kid-friendly and adult activities."

The program launched at Omni Berkshire Place in New York City, where teens visiting the hotel can get advice from 18-year old David Strebel. Strebel is the son of the hotel's general manager, Peter Strebel, and has called the Omni Berkshire Place his home for three years. David is a recent high-school graduate and has had plenty of time to explore New York City and find hot spots and activities that will appeal to others in his age group.

The Omni Chicago Hotel, Omni Shoreham Hotel, Omni Parker House, Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate, Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort and Omni Hilton Head Oceanside Resort are also participating in the program.

The Teen Connection program is Omni’s first teen-targeted initiative created in concert with its newly formed Omni Teen Advisory Board (OTAB), a select group of well-traveled teenagers who provide ideas and feedback to help create memorable experiences for teens. The OTAB is currently helping with the implementation of the Teen Connection program, with plans to include coffee meet-ups and amenity baskets with snacks and discount cards at local attractions.
