Four Seasons CEO Kathleen Taylor Receives Cornell Hospitality Innovator Award

Earlier this week, the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration recognized one of the hotel industry's leading women with its annual Innovator Award.

Kathleen Taylor, chief executive officer of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, was honored at the fourth annual award ceremony on Tuesday, which was held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

This marks the latest accolade for Taylor, who has many achievements under her belt, including being the first woman to receive HOTELS magazine Corporate Hotelier of the Year award, and being listed as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada by the Women's Executive Network.

"Our commitment to advancement has never been stronger and our efforts begin with our people," said Taylor, in an announcement. "We've provided them with a number of new platforms through which to truly reinvent the services they provide to our guests and customers, both external and internal. We're looking at everything we do as a company with a fresh perspective."

Taylor has been with Four Seasons since 1989, and since being named CEO in 2010, she has implemented some dynamic changes and programs within the company. She restructured the company's executive leadership team and created a global executive level position dedicated entirely to innovation and product development. Taylor is also responsible for spearheading programs which will transform banquets, add new energy to dining out experiences, and revolutionize the arrival experience. Under her leadership, innovation at Four Seasons extends beyond service delivery to include new approaches to design and decor, technology, and the way in which guests can communicate with the company and each other.

Taylor is the first woman to receive the Cornell Hospitality Innovator Award—a distinction which continues to showcase her leadership role for females in the hotel business and the contributions that women continue to make to the industry.
