Avocet Hospitality Group Acquires Anchorage Inn

CHARLESTON, S.C.—Avocet Hospitality Group, based in Charleston, SC, has acquired The Anchorage Inn, a 19-room hotel located on Vendue Range in Charleston’s historic district.

The Anchorage Inn becomes the third Charleston hotel under Avocet Hospitality Group’s management. The group also owns and manages the Vendue Inn– a 66-room boutique hotel acquired in 2012 and located in Charleston’s French Quarter; and the 132-room Tides Folly Beach—the only oceanfront hotel in the Charleston area.

“The Anchorage Inn is a beautiful and well-maintained property,” said Jonathan Weitz, president of Avocet Hospitality Group. “We’re happy to welcome it to our growing family of brands.”

Originally built as a cotton warehouse in the mid-1840s, The Anchorage Inn’s building has served a number of commercial roles before opening as a bed and breakfast in May 1991. The name for the hotel – “anchorage,” defined as “a safe harbor” – was chosen both for its location along Charleston’s historic harbor, as well as for the haven it provides travelers visiting Charleston.

The group also manages more than 175 vacation homes available for rent on Folly Beach, S.C. through Avocet Properties.
