HD Expo 2012: Mobile Materials Bar | Eric Brand
Eric Brand, a high-end, contemporary furniture designer and manufacturer for guestrooms, suites and public areas, unveiled its touring showroom at the HD Expo. The company transformed an 18-foot trailer into a “mobile materials bar,” which offered a new way to present hospitality designers with a comprehensive collection of specialty materials for their projects—à la carte. The showroom featured monitors to display project details, and a materials bar, complete with a menu, servers and martini glasses. Attendees sat at barstools along the hammered silver bar and underlit onyx counter and selected from an array of materials to go over their design presentation. “This really elevates to a whole new level the notion of great ideas being born in a bar as they’re jotted down on a cocktail napkin,” Owner Eric Brand said in an announcement. “Some of the best ideas have made their way from sketches on cocktail napkins, and we hope to create an even more conducive environment and bring designers’ concepts to fruition by pulling from the vast materials and resources that we have available to our designers.” The HD Expo marked the trailer’s inaugural road trip, but stops at design centers nationwide are planned for the near future.
