AH&LA and DHL Express Announce Partnership

Shipping documents and packages is an often-expensive fact of business life"but it's one that just got cheaper, thanks to a new member benefit offered by DHL to AH&LA members.

Through its Partner Savings Program, DHL Express has teamed with AH&LA to provide its members with discounts of up to 25 percent on DHL's full suite of shipping services. Offering delivery on packages from letters to pallets of equipment, these services include:

n DHL Same Day Service
n DHL Next Day 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
n DHL 2nd Day Service
n DHL Ground
n DHL International Worldwide Priority and Import Express
n DHL Ship Ready

This last service, according to DHL group sales manager Nick Tovar, is particularly useful for busy hoteliers because it streamlines the shipping process.

With ShipReady, customers purchase shipping envelopes up front at a flat-rate, prepaid price, which makes budgeting easier, Tovar says. Then, you can use the envelopes and call for free pickup whenever you're ready. There are no weight restrictions on the envelopes"as long as you can seal it shut, we'll take it"and there's no additional billing to ship them.

The ShipReady envelopes come in letter and legal sizes, available in packs of 10 "larger express packs are also available for purchase. They can be used to ship materials anywhere in the contiguous United States, with guaranteed delivery by noon the next business day. All customers have to do is dial
1-800-members for pickup.

ShipReady gives customers so much flexibility, Tovar explains. If you're traveling, you can take the envelopes with you, and ship documents from any location "they're already paid for.

He added that AH&LA members will receive $20 off their first ShipReady order when they buy their first pack of 10 envelopes.

As part of the Partner Savings Program, DHL can work with members to provide a cost analysis to determine how much DHL can save them on all their shipping needs.

A study conducted by PA Consulting Group for DHL found that the carrier performed comparably with UPS in delivery reliability for next-day (10:30 a.m.) service, and led the two major delivery companies in reliability to cities in the Midwest and Northeast, including New York, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland and St. Louis.

In fact, of the 20 cities where business deliveries were measured, DHL led in reliability of delivery to 10 cities, while UPS and FedEx led in five cities each, according to the study.

Tovar adds that members who sign up for the DHL Partner Savings Program and send their first shipment before April 4, 2007, will receive a $25 DHL savings certificate. The certificate is good toward their next DHL invoice.

For more information on the DHL Partner Savings Program, call 1-800-MEMBERS (1-800-636-2377) Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (EST).
