NEW YORK—On the heels of the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) Asia, The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts announces plans to continue its growth momentum globally with the debut of ten hotels and resorts in destinations including Shanghai and Sanya in China, Jaipur and Chennai in India, the Blue Mountains in Australia as well as Koh Samui, Thailand and Jakarta, Indonesia. The Luxury Collection is an ensemble of more than 80 hotels and resorts in 30 countries around the world with new construction and conversion properties that span China, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Australia. Offering the brand’s signature Luxury Collection Concierge service and indigenous cultural experiences, these new hotels join the brand’s portfolio as portals for guests to discover each destination.

EXPANSION IN CHINA
The Royal Begonia, a Luxury Collection Resort, Sanya will debut in August 2012 as the brand’s first resort in China, situated on Hainan Island. The 142 guestrooms open onto a large balcony. Eighteen villas each will feature a private pool, courtyard gardens, and high-tech amenities.
In September 2012, Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Shanghai will also open. The interior design of the 171-room residential-style hotel was created by design duo Yabu Pushelberg. Italy-based Mario Botta led the architecture and design of the exteriors.
Looking ahead, The Castle, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Dalian is scheduled to open in 2014. The 1958, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Suzhou will debut in July 2015.
THE LUXURY COLLECTION OPENS ITS TENTH HOTEL IN INDIA
The Luxury Collection will reach ten hotels in India this August with the debut of ITC Grand Chola, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Chennai, making India the brand’s second largest market behind only the United States. The property includes a 27,000 square foot luxury retail center and recreational facilities, including the WelcomArt Gallery.
BRAND DEBUTS SECOND HOTEL IN INDONESIA
Keraton at The Plaza, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Jakarta opened in April 2012 joining The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Bali as the brand’s second hotel in Indonesia. The hotel's 140 guestrooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows and in-room technology.
The Sarasvati, a Luxury Collection Resort, Bali is scheduled to open in January 2014 as a 64 room resort overlooking the Indian Ocean.
GROWTH IN THAILAND
The Luxury Collection has announced that Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Koh Samui will be the brand’s third property in Thailand opening in December 2012. Vana Belle Resort & Spa is an 80-room property situated on the Gulf of Thailand.
DEBUT IN AUSTRALIA
This February, Starwood introduced The Luxury Collection brand to Australia with the signings of two renowned resorts with a rich heritage: Lilianfels and Echoes, both Luxury Collection Resorts in the Blue Mountains, Australia.
Lilianfels is the former residence of New South Wale’s Chief of Justice, dating back to 1889 and now features 85 guestrooms and suites, two restaurants, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a tennis court and a spa.
Adjacent to Lilianfels, Echoes is a former retreat for a renowned Australian writer Thomas Keneally. The resort contains 14 rooms and suites featuring views of the National Park.
