CALI, Colombia—Marriott Hotels
& Resorts has announced plans to open a new 170-room Marriott
Hotel in Cali in 2014, under an agreement with Real Hotels and Resorts,
S.A. and Grupo Poma. Situated in Colonia Granada, the Marriott Cali Hotel will be located in one of
Cali’s most desirable areas filled with restaurants, bars, and shops.
“We are very excited about consolidating our relationship with
Marriott by bringing the Marriott brand to Cali and strengthening
Marriott’s position in Colombia. With the success of the Marriott Hotel
in Bogota, we are confident that this hotel will be highly successful,
and play a large role in the continued emergence of Colombia,”
Fernando Poma, president of Real Hotels & Resorts, said in an announcement.
“We are fortunate to have great partners in Colombia, with whom we
continue to grow many successful hotels within the market and across
Latin America” added Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer
for Marriott International Inc. in the Caribbean and Latin America.
“Cali is a wonderful Latin American destination and Colonia Granada is
an ideal location for our new Marriott Cali Hotel.”
In addition to 170 guestrooms and suites, the hotel will feature a
casual dining restaurant, a sushi bar, and a great room. The hotel will
also have three different meeting spaces available including the 4,900
square foot ballroom. Recreational facilities include a swimming pool
and a fitness center. Other amenities will include a concierge lounge,
business center, gift shop, and parking garage.
Marriott International is currently represented in Colombia by the
264-room JW Marriott Hotel Bogota and the 239-room Bogota Marriott
Hotel. Marriott will open the 278-room Cartagena Marriott Hotel in 2015.
