InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of two new generation properties, Holiday Inn London Stratford City and Staybridge Suites London Stratford City.
The two hotels are owned by a joint venture between Cycas Hotel Partners and Patron Capital. The hotels are operated by Cycas Hospitality under a franchise agreement with IHG.
In an announcement, Angela Brav, IHG chief executive Europe, said: “A big focus for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is the regeneration of East London. The hotels will help to create that legacy, with 120 new jobs created. The opening of these two new hotels also sees IHG pass a significant milestone, we now have over 40,000 hotel rooms in the UK."
Holiday Inn is the official hotel provider to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the new 188 room hotel in Stratford City will help the partnership. The property features ‘Twenty Twelve’ restaurant and ‘The Stadium’ lounge bar. There are also seven conference rooms which can accommodate up to 100 people, as well as a gym and business center.
The 162 room Staybridge Suites London Stratford City is an extended stay hotel for business travelers. The hotel offers apartment-style living. Each suite comes with a kitchen and public spaces include a living room with an open fire, an outdoor terrace with barbecue, exercise room, laundry room, and a 24-hour shop. Each day guests are offered a complimentary breakfast, and 3 nights per week a ‘Social’ where free beer, wine, and soft drinks are available for guests to enjoy.
Staybridge Suites London Stratford City is the first Staybridge Suites property to open in London and the third in the UK alongside Liverpool and Newcastle, which opened in 2008 and 2009 respectively.
