Green Seal™ is a non-profit, third-party certifier and standards development body. When a product, service or company has been certified to a Green Seal standard, it has gone through a stringent process to ensure that it has less impact on the environment and human health and performs as well as expected. Green Seal standards are based on a life-cycle approach, evaluating a product from the raw materials through the manufacturing process and ending with recycling or disposal. Green Seal certification is only awarded after a rigorous evaluation, including an on-site audit. The Green Seal means that the product has passed the test; that it works as well as or better than others in its class, and that it has been evaluated without bias or conflict of interest.
Since 1989 Green Seal, Inc has provided independent, objective, science-based guidance to the marketplace and to consumers. Green Seal is the oldest ecolabeling organization in the US and is an ANSI accredited standard developer. Their processes meet the EPA's Criteria for third party certifiers and the requirements of the International Organization of Standards and the Global Ecolabeling Network.
