Hotel Hershey Auctioning Off Dining Room Decor

1/2/2013 | The Scene
When the Circular Dining Room at the Hotel Hershey opened in 1933, it was an inventive take on the traditional restaurant. Milton S. Hershey, founder of the resort and chocolate tycoon, did not want the restaurant to have corners, because he said that guests placed in corners of restaurants did not tip well.

Now, the famous restaurant will undergo an extensive renovation to update its look for the New Year. The restaurant closed down on January 2 and will reopen in April under the slightly different moniker The Circular. The new look will focus on an upscale, casual dining concept.

But if you're feeling a little bit nostalgic and want to own a piece of the Hotel Hershey, select items from the beloved Circular Dinign Room are currently being auctioned off by Jennings Auction Group through January 23. The chairs, tables, banquettes, and hostess desk will all be up for grabs during the online auction. And those that want a truly spectacular piece, can bid on the wrought iron and crystal torchierre that was the centerpiece of the dining room.

If you do plan to bid and purchase an item from this auction, pickup will be the responsibility of the buyer.
