Big Bash Opens World's Tallest Hotel
The city of Dubai definitely knows how to party, and its newest international hotel destination, the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, showed that they could compete with all of the other city hotels by hosting a big opening bash last night.
The hotel, which was officially accepted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's tallest hotel, rises 17 stories and comes in just just 26 meters short of New York City’s Empire State Building.
Last night, more than 1,200 guests dressed to the nines and showed up at the sky-high hotel for a major celebration. The event included performances by British recording star, Leona Lewis and classical pop sensation, 2CELLOS, who rose to international fame when a YouTube clip of their version of Michael Jackson’s "Smooth Criminal" took the world by storm. Other evening entertainment included fire dancers and stilt walkers.

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai offers nine restaurants and five bars and lounges, more than 7,500 square meters of indoor and outdoor event space, including two ballrooms; and a 4,000 square-meter Saray Spa and Health Club.
